Job Opportunity:  

Preschool Teacher at Lynn Valley Parent Participation Preschool

Part-time (16 hours per week, + prep hours)

Mon – Thurs Mornings
Starting September 2022

The Lynn Valley Parent Participation Preschool is searching for a vibrant, creative, and committed teacher to
join our school beginning September 2022. We are a well-established Parent Participation Preschool (PPP)
with an excellent reputation in the heart of Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. The preschool has a rich history in
the community; it has operated for over 70 years and occupies a heritage schoolhouse building with a large
outdoor space. We seek a motivated teacher with the desire to take an active role at our unique school while
building a collaborative partnership with our current experienced teacher. We run a morning play-based
program each day for 3 and 4-year-olds with a strong focus on outdoor play and natural learning. As a PPP,
parents are integral to the running of the school, which is fundamentally about creating a warm, caring
community for children and caregivers.
Qualifications:
● Early Childhood Education License
● Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
● Criminal record check
● Previous teaching experience in a preschool an asset, or evidence of experience working with young
children and knowledge of current theories and practices in early childhood education
Classroom Duties:
● Shape and deliver a quality, engaging program in harmony with the philosophy and policies of LVPPP
● Collaborate with our existing teacher in program development and execution
● Ensure health and safety of the children, while guiding and inspiring them
● Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers (including preschool Executive Committee)
● Provide direction to parents/caregivers working on ‘duty day’
● Assist with classroom and outdoor space set-up and clean-up, and create a safe, stimulating, and
varied environment for children
● Participate in all aspects of pedagogical documentation including recording, reflecting and responding
to children’s play
Administrative Duties:
● Attend AGM and monthly executive team meetings
● Participate in Parent/Teacher interviews (once per year during teaching hours)
● Prepare classroom supplies

● Excellent communication skills with colleagues, children, and parents/caregivers
● Commitment to continuing professional development and growth
● Familiarity with the revised British Columbia Early Learning Framework
Salary will be on the PPP pay scale and will be dependent on experience. ECE license minimum
$20.95/hour and rising with experience beyond $30/hour. In addition to the classroom hours the
contract includes prep time, a monthly benefit payment, vacation pay, sick days and paid statutory
holidays. Monthly professional development with certificates is provided by the PPP Teachers’ Association. Teachers’ salaries will also receive the provincial ECE wage enhancement of $4 per hour
for eligible worked hours.
