The Fundraising committee is responsible for coordinating the fundraising efforts for LVPPP. This team is trusted with the job of planning and organizing all of the fundraisers for the year. Past fundraisers have included:
- Theatre Night at Hendry Hall
- Mabel’s Labels
- Devry’s Flowers (Christmas poinsettias and spring flowers, plants and seeds)
- Purdy’s Chocolates
- Silent auction pub nights.
Additionally, funds from Scholastic and the CPPP Win Win Win Raffle also go towards the school’s fundraising budget.
While some of the efforts and events may look different from year to year, the main, big, amazingly fun event that is planned every year starting in August is the LVPPP’s Great Pumpkin Patch. This event has become a much loved community event in Lynn Valley with families from the area and all over the North Shore attending. It is coordinated on the same day as the Lynn Valley Elementary School Fall fundraiser which creates an even more community feel. In the past years, over 230 adults and children have attended the event through rain or shine. Whilst the Fundraising committee does most of the organizing, this event requires that all families attending LVPPP to pitch in and help make the event a great success – which it always is!
Some of the major draws to the Great Pumpkin Patch are:
- each family gets to take home a pumpkin
- apple bobbing
- face painting
- bake sale
- cookie decorating
- haunted house
- ghost goop
- bean bag toss
- crafts for all ages of children
- dry ice
- even some visiting snakes!
