Heineken and the Rijksmuseum are not only neighbours, but also share a history going back to the museum’s early days in the 19th century. Gerard Adriaan Heineken was a driving force behind Amsterdam’s cultural and economic renaissance and was directly involved in the Rijksmuseum’s construction.

From its beginnings in Amsterdam 140 years ago, today the Heineken brand is internationally known and the world’s largest premium beer brand. As our partner, Heineken is also the Rijksmuseum’s preferred beer supplier and is served in the museum cafés and the RIJKS® café and restaurant.

The Rijksmuseum and Heineken are working together to shine a spotlight on the history of both brands in a way that appeals to today’s audiences. Notable joint campaigns included a series of beer bottles that showcased works from the Rijksmuseum collection around the world.
